DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. PARADE 2026

MLK Day 2026 Celebration

Theme: The Demand for Freedom

Monday, January 19, 2026

Fayetteville, Georgia

The Fayette County Branch of the NAACP proudly invites the community to join us for the 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration, a powerful day of remembrance, reflection, and action honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

This year’s theme, “The Demand for Freedom,” reflects the ongoing call for justice, dignity, and equality in our communities. It reminds us that freedom is not passive; it is claimed through courage, unity, and collective responsibility.

The 2026 celebration will include the annual MLK Day Parade through Fayetteville, followed by a community Pep Rally, bringing together residents, students, educators, faith leaders, civic organizations, and local partners. For the first time, all Fayette County high schools are being invited to participate, including marching bands and JROTC programs, to stand together in a visible show of unity and shared purpose.

A central feature of this year’s rally will be the voices of students. Each high school will be represented by a student speaker delivering a brief reflection on the meaning and importance of Dr. King’s legacy today. By elevating youth leadership, we affirm that the next generation plays a critical role in shaping a more just future.

In light of recent challenges within our school community, including incidents that have caused harm and division, the 2026 MLK Day Celebration is intentionally designed to be a space for healing, learning, and reconciliation. Through education, service, and shared experience, we aim to foster understanding and reinforce our collective commitment to respect and inclusion.

MLK Day is more than a celebration; it is a call to action. We invite families, students, educators, community leaders, and supporters from across Fayette County to stand with us as we honor Dr. King’s vision and recommit ourselves to the ongoing demand for freedom.
